Koeck, P. J. B. An aperture design for single side band imaging in the transmission electron microscope. Ultramicroscopy, 2017, 182, 81-84

== Abstract ==

A novel design for a single side band aperture is presented, which allows determining defocus and astigmatism from the recorded images. The image formation theory and a method of correcting the complex valued transfer function of such an imaging system are derived and both are tested in simulations. Finally I conclude by discussing the possible impact of this imaging mode on cryo electron microscopy of small macromolecules.
